Eye Spy Sonoma Plaza History

A work in progress.

Mike Acker’s “Portrait of Sonoma Plaza”

This is a picture of a place over time, Acker’s artistic way of seeing Sonoma Plaza history.

It’s a ghostly street scene where horses and cars appear together. How do you know what’s new and old and oldest? What do the street maps say? What questions would you ask people who lived in Sonoma 200 years ago.

Eye Spy Sonoma Plaza History

Four videos introduce Acker’s art then invite kids to walk into the pictures. Look around. Find things. Imagine lives. Read the street maps. Ask questions. Draw history. Write history stories.

Kids’ discoveries and creations will form the exhibit “Eye Spy Sonoma Plaza History” at Sonoma Community Center.
